In this Privacy Policy, we explain, among other things, what personal data we process through our website (hereinafter "Website"), for what purposes and on what basis.

Warehouse De Bijenkorf B.V. (hereinafter "The Bijenkorf") considers the protection of your personal data very important. We process your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, hereinafter the "AVG").

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We therefore recommend that you consult the Privacy Policy on a regular basis. The Privacy Policy was last amended on September 16, 2021. A PDF of the Privacy Policy can be downloaded and printed here.

2. What personal data does the Bijenkorf collect for what purposes?

Job application form

If you apply for a job via the website, we ask you - depending on the job in question - to provide various information that will be used to process your application, such as:

  • Name, address and residence;

  • Phone number;

  • E-mailadress;

  • Sex;

  • Date of birth;

  • Highest education;

  • Curriculum vitae;
  • Motivationletter;

  • LinkedIn profile (optional);

  • Availability;

We also process the data you provide to us by including it in your CV or in your motivation letter. These data are used to assess your suitability for the vacancy in question and to contact you about the progress of your application procedure. The legal basis for processing your personal data as part of the application procedure is a legitimate interest of de Bijenkorf to carry out recruitment and selection activities.

If you have given your consent, we may include your data in our system so that we can approach you for other available and suitable positions. The legal basis for this is consent.

In case Bijenkorf offers you a job, your data will also be used to prepare the offer. If the offer is accepted, your data will be used to prepare the employment contract. The legal basis for processing these data is the performance of the contract.

Integrity Check

De Bijenkorf is affiliated with the Stichting Fraude Aanpak Detailhandel ("FAD"). This foundation is the independent supervisor and administrator of the Alert Register. Using the Alert Register, employers can check the integrity of job applicants and prevent damage being caused (again) through fraud.

When you apply for a job with us, we automatically check whether your details appear in the Warning Register. If an employee of one of the affiliated retail organizations is dismissed for fraud, this will be reported to the police. The employee will also be included in the Warning Register for four years. If the employee applies for a job with another affiliated retail organization, his/her details will be tested to see whether they are included in the Alerting Register. The employee can object to the decision if he/she is included in the Alerting Register.

As part of the integrity check mentioned above, we process the following data:

  • First and last name;

  • Date of birth;

The legal basis for this processing is a legitimate interest of the Beehive to prevent fraud and other misuse of its services.

FAD is the data controller for the data contained in the Alert Register. For more information on processing of personal data by FAD, please see the Privacy Statement on their website (

Depending on the job level, an assessment may be part of the application process. The assessment consists of an ability test (Pi-Company Connector Ability) and a personality questionnaire (Pi-Company Reflector Big Five). The results are processed to assess whether you meet the job requirements. The legal basis for this is a legitimate interest of the Beehive.

Through the Website you can create a job alert to quickly find suitable vacancies. In that case, we store your e-mail address, first name and your search criteria and use these to e-mail you relevant vacancies. The legal basis for this is your consent. You can unsubscribe from this job service at any time using the link at the bottom of each message received.

The Website allows you to share job postings by e-mail. When you do so, we process your name and e-mail address and the name and e-mail address of the recipient. We use this data to inform the recipient of the vacancy shared. The legal basis for processing this data is performance of the contract.

De Bijenkorf may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this privacy statement. In doing so, these third parties act as processors for De Bijenkorf and De Bijenkorf ensures that these parties provide sufficient guarantees with regard to the technical and organizational security measures. Third parties acting as processors for the Bijenkorf have concluded a processing agreement with the Bijenkorf, which stipulates, among other things, that they will only process your data on behalf of the Bijenkorf.

Otherwise, Bijenkorf only provides data to third parties with your express consent or if it is required to do so under laws and regulations, it is compelled to do so as a result of litigation and/or in the event it deems it necessary to protect its own interests and/or the interests of third parties.

De Bijenkorf may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this privacy statement. These parties may be located outside the European Union or they may use servers located outside the European Union, including in the United States. The level of personal data protection rights in these countries may be lower than in the European Union.

In order to safeguard your privacy, Bijenkorf will transfer your personal data to countries outside the EEA only if the European Commission has decided that the third country in question ensures an adequate level of protection, or if other appropriate safeguards are provided, such as unmodified standard data protection clauses approved by the European Commission, with additional measures if necessary. These can be found here.

6. How do we protect your data?

De Bijenkorf has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss or any form of improper processing. For example, we use a firewall and have implemented encryption measures to prevent unauthorized third parties from accessing data.

Your data is stored in locations that are both physically and technically secure. It is also logged who has accessed the user data. Only a limited group of employees have access to your data based on their job profile. The employees who have access to the data are trained and instructed in advance how to handle the data. They are also subject to an obligation of confidentiality.

7. What happens in the case of transfer of business?

In the future, one or more parts or assets of the Bijenkorf may be transferred to a third party or the Bijenkorf may merge with a third party. In that case, your personal data may also be transferred to this third party. In such a case, De Bijenkorf will always inform you in advance.

You can also request an amendment or correction of your data. If you are under 16 years of age, such requests must be made by your parent (or legal representative). De Bijenkorf will respond to your request as soon as possible, but at the latest within four (4) weeks.

You can object to other processing operations that de Bijenkorf bases on the basis of legitimate interest. These are usually processing operations that are necessary in the context of proper and secure business operations, whereby de Bijenkorf has weighed its interest against your privacy interest. If you consider that your personal circumstances outweigh the legitimate interest of de Bijenkorf and/or a third party to process your data, you can object by sending an e-mail to [email protected].

If you would like de Bijenkorf to delete your personal data and/or your account, you may request this by sending an email to [email protected]. It is possible that some personal data may be retained by de Bijenkorf after the deletion request, for example if there is a legal obligation to retain the data.

You may request this by sending an e-mail to [email protected].

Withdrawal of consent

If any processing of your personal data is based on your (explicit) consent, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time, without prejudice to the lawfulness of the processing based on the consent before its withdrawal.
